Installing Adaptalock – Tips and Techniques:
Upon viewing the installations shared by our customers, we’ve noticed a useful alternative to the standard installation method included in our instructions.
Two methods of installation:
- Pre-assembled installation:
- This approach involves building the Adaptalock system before fitting it to the door. It’s ideal for modern doors with both vertical and horizontal hinge adjustments. This method simplifies alignment and ensures a smooth installation.
- In-situ installation (standard):
- For older doors with static hinges or conservatory doors that have settled over time and are misaligned, we recommend assembling the system directly into the door. This method allows for fine-tuning and ensures optimal performance, even in challenging install scenarios.
Photo Guide:
In this feature, you’ll find step-by-step photos detailing the pre-assembly method. Follow along to see how straightforward this alternative approach can be.

3. Slacken hook casing faceplate screws a few millimetres and drop hook casing from the toothed rails.

4. Slide hook casing along rails to match the existing hook bolt position.
Re-engage hook casing to toothed rails ensuring it is in the fully unlocked position and tighten faceplate screws.
Repeat 2-4 for the other hook bolt rail & casing.

5. Place snappable faceplate between gearbox faceplate and hook bolt faceplate. Make sure the arrow on the snappable faceplate meets the arrow on the gearbox faceplate. Using either the Adaptalock snapping tools or pliers, snap to size.
Repeat for other side of gearbox.

6. Install gearbox/handles/cylinder and adjust centre keep position if necessary. Install hook bolt rails & faceplates, adjust existing keeps if necessary. Use the remaining snappable faceplate to fit top and bottom of the door.
