A community centre in Devon has been awarded with Burg-Wächter’s ‘Secure Communities Scheme,’ that allows them to receive free security products for their community trust.
The Strand Community Trust, which runs The Strand Centre in Dawlish, applied for Burg-Wächter’s ‘Secure Communities Scheme’ when they were in need of a safe. They had no place for on-site income, donations and sensitive documents to be stored safely when the centre was closed.
Burg-Wächter awarded them with its Home-Safe H 210 S, a compact 20.6 litre safe with mechanical lock and key entry. The Home-Safe has a double-walled design for attack resistance, which includes fire resistant insulating material for peace of mind, while the interior has sufficient space for commonly sized files with an adjustable shelf to allow for organised storage. The safe can be easily integrated into cabinets, as it is equipped with two diagonally arranges drill holes in the back wall and in the bottom of the safe to ensure an optimal and immovable fixing.
The Strand Centre is a vibrant community hub in Dawlish, run by the Strand Community Trust. The centre sees over 1,200 people a year using its facilities which includes a café, food bank, drop-in and support services, and inclusive community events. These services particularly support families, older adults, and individuals facing isolation, hardship or homelessness by providing affordable hot meals, emergency food support, a warm space, and vital connection for people in challenging circumstances.
Barrie Cooper, Chair of Trustees at Strand Community Trust, said: “We’re a small but active charity with limited resources and we rely heavily on volunteer time and local donations. Before our gifted safe from Burg Wachter we didn’t have a secure location for various types of on-site income and donations when the centre was closed. The addition of this safe now allows us to securely store these items and has given our staff and volunteers peace of mind and helps us safeguard our busy community hub.”
“We’d like to thank Burg-Wächter for supporting community organisations like ours.”
Burg-Wächter’s Secure Communities Scheme gives regional charities and community groups the chance to win a security kit worth up to £200 for their organization. Any regional initiative that is run by or supports the local community can apply.
Burg-Wächter launched the scheme in recognition of the fact that people around the country who are doing their bit for their community should not have to worry about the security of their premises, equipment, or storage areas. The company’s Secure Communities Scheme is its way of saying thank you to community leaders for supporting people in their area.
The type of project or organisation that the scheme is open to is very wide-ranging. If the initiative is run by or supports the local community, and it has a specific security need, Burg-Wächter would like to hear about it. Successful applicants will each receive a tailored security kit to help secure property, premises, equipment, or storage areas to the value of £150 – £200 at retail price.
The Secure Communities Scheme is an ongoing initiative, which has already helped over 100 regional causes through the provision of over 2,000 pieces of security equipment.
