Digitally Aware Certification Scheme Available Free to All SBD Members

The Police Digital Security Centre (PDSC) is offering all members of Secured by Design the opportunity to participate in the Digitally Aware Certification scheme for free.

The PDSC’s Digitally Aware certification scheme, developed exclusively in collaboration with BSI, aims to help small and medium sized businesses reduce their vulnerability to cyber crime and promote the fact that they have taken the necessary steps to protect themselves to their customers, staff and suppliers.

The Digitally Aware certification scheme requires the completion of an online questionnaire that is based on the National Cyber Security Centre’s (NCSC) ‘Small Business Guide’. On successful completion of this process, a certificate valid for 12 months is awarded.  Based on the results of the questionnaire, applicants also receive a tailored report with specific recommendations of actions they should take in accordance with the latest Government and police guidance.

Simon Newman, Head of Cyber and Business Services for Police Crime Prevention Initiatives, said; “In these times of uncertainty, we want to help organisations become more digitally secure and reduce their vulnerability to cyber crime and by waiving the fee for SBD member companies we can assist.

“Businesses constantly need to be at the top of their game. With the frequency and volume of attacks growing, cyber criminals are becoming increasingly sophisticated in the way they target businesses”.

The PDSC is part of Police Crime Prevention Initiatives (PCPI) and works across England and Wales with industry, government, academia and law enforcement to reduce the vulnerability of organisations to cyber crime and fraud. PCPI is a non-profit organisation.
