ParticipantThe Poe 1 Divine Orb: it’s the currency that makes the Path of Exile world go round. And while it’s always been a valuable commodity, the “Secrets of the Atlas” expansion significantly amplified its importance, shaping the very fabric of the game’s economy.
Before Secrets of the Atlas, the Exalted Orb often reigned supreme as the gold standard. However, the expansion brought about a shift. The introduction of influenced items, with their potential for powerful and meta-defining mods, created a massive demand for re-rolling these items.
Suddenly, perfectly rolled stats on endgame gear became more achievable and more desirable. This created a powerful incentive for players to accumulate Divine Orbs. The result was a surge in their value, sometimes even surpassing the Exalted Orb in specific league economies.
The implications were far-reaching. Farming strategies shifted. Prior to Secrets of the Atlas, players might have focused primarily on content that dropped Exalted Orbs more consistently. But now, the focus turned to activities that yielded high volumes of items suitable for “divining” – maps with high monster density, strongboxes that dropped influenced items, and even specific divination cards that rewarded Divine Orbs.
Furthermore, the increased importance of the Divine Orb also impacted the value of other PoE 1 Currency. Chaos Orbs, for example, were often used to buy cheap bases to try and roll with essences and then divine. The relationship between Chaos Orbs and Divine Orbs became more intertwined, and players had to carefully consider the exchange rates and optimize their trading strategies.
Crafting really got a nice upgrade. Now, you can target specific mods on influenced items with fossils and resonators, making the whole crafting process way more predictable. But even with that, you still often need to use Divine Orbs to nail the final rolls. This created a solid demand for crafting materials and made Divine Orbs an even bigger deal as a currency.
So, in the end, Secrets of the Atlas wasn’t just about checking out new areas and taking down tough bosses. It also changed the whole Path of Exile economy. The increased importance of the Poe 1 Divine Orb changed how people farmed, affected the value of other currencies, and made crafting even more crucial.
