Mila Launches New High Security Door Handle

Mila has launched a new high security door handle which will enable its customers to target the growing number of consumers who want a secure solution for their homes which is cost effective yet still stylish and high performing.

The new Mila ProSecure handle is manufactured in high strength zinc alloy reinforced with 2mm gauge mild steel.  This means it can be plated in the same range of colours and finishes as Mila’s popular ProLinea and ProStyle door furniture allowing customers to achieve a stylish, coordinated look.

PAS24 approved and meeting the requirements of the new retrofit security standard TS007, the ProSecure handle can be fitted with any one of the anti-snap or anti-bump Eurocylinders in the Mila range, enabling customers to offer a complete high security solution.

The handle itself provides the visual deterrent which Mila recommends to discourage the opportunist burglar but it is also supplied with the Secured By Design logo etched into the external back plate for added visual impact.

Suitable for use on both 70mm PVC-U doors and 44mm composite/timber door slabs, the ProSecure handle is available in two backplate sizes and in six durable finishes including polished chrome and polished gold.  It can be fitted into standard lock cases using M6 fixing screws and uses the standard ProLinea routing centres.

Richard Gyde, Managing Director of Mila, says:  “We are seeing increased awareness in the retail market now about the need for high security handles to be paired with high security cylinders, but many retail customers are not prepared to compromise on price or styling in order to achieve the performance necessary.

“We have delivered a solution which means they don’t have to compromise and which we believe will give our customers a real advantage in this market.”

The ProSecure handle has been designed in house by Mila’s specialist design team and draws on many of the features proven across Mila’s high security handle range including an integral steel reinforcement plate with a deep drawn pocket feature which protects the cylinder from attack and an anti drill disk in front of the cylinder which provides further protection.

A key feature of the handle is an integral lever return spring in both the internal and external handle sets which means the lever returns reliably to 90º after every use.  This has been fully tested in line with EN1906: 2010 to 200,000 cycles and comes with the added reassurance of a 10 year mechanical guarantee.

Mila is already supplying the handle to Safestyle with a bespoke lever design and will shortly be announcing launch partners for the standard version of the product.

Mila has achieved European Design Registration on the ProSecure product design and has a patent pending on the steel reinforcement element.

The company has produced a full package of both trade and consumer marketing material to support the launch of ProSecure and to communicate the new requirements and implications of the TS007 security standard.  This can be downloaded via the website at www.mila.co.uk
